When I first started making lip balm, it was just me in my kitchen in Toronto, melting down ghee and experimenting with ingredients I had ordered from across the web. I was chasing something that felt nourishing, natural, and just… better than what I could find on shelves.
That first version? It was so creamy. Smooth, buttery, and kind of magical if I’m being honest. But it was definitely more of a “keep it on your nightstand” situation than something you could toss in your pocket and trust not to melt. Great for winter lips, not so great for your glovebox in July. So we went back to the drawing board. I teamed up with a chemist and a great lab to create a formula that could hold up to everyday life. Something with the same good ingredients—especially the ghee—but stable enough to be carried everywhere.
That second version really hit. It was firm, shelf-stable for a year, and launched us globally. Beauty editors and customers loved it, which meant everything to me. My mission of making ghee-on-the-go accessible and easy to use felt complete.
Still, I couldn’t stop thinking about that original balm. The softness. The way it just melted onto your lips. I missed it. And honestly, I wanted both. That buttery feel and the practicality.
So, I had to go back into chemist mode and got back to formulating.
I’m proud to introduce our third iteration: a new version of our lip balm with 5% more ghee. It’s smooth and rich like that very first batch, but still solid enough to survive your pocket, your purse, and yes—even the random corners of your car. It's not too hard in the winter and not too soft in the summer (like the good Canadians we are).
