Lohri reminds us why we say "From Land to Skin"

Lohri is a time to honor traditions and connect with ourselves, the Earth, and the people who matter most.

Notes from the middle of a skin healing journey Reading Lohri reminds us why we say "From Land to Skin" 2 minutes

Our family celebrated Lohri this past weekend, and it was a beautiful time. It is celebrated to pray for a good harvest, marking the beginning of longer days after the winter solstice. The festival takes on different names and traditions throughout India: i.e. Lohri in Punjab and Pongal in South India.

Lohri is also celebrated to wish prosperity for newly married couples. Since Varun and our brother Govinda both got married in 2024, it was a special time to gather and reflect on the new beginnings we've experienced. We went all out this year — there was a band, dancing and singing, and good food and drinks flowing all night.

We appreciate Lohri as a time to honor traditions and connect with ourselves, the Earth, and the people who matter most.

In farming communities, like Punjab, they're using every bit of what nature provides. Grass that feeds the cows, that then provide milk to make home-made yogurt, ghee, and more. Nothing is wasted, and everything is connected.

"From Land to Skin" comes from this sentiment of seeking nourishment from our roots: using ghee for everything and bringing out ghee's full potential in all its versatility.

This Lohri with Ghlee, we're feeling immense gratitude that we get to share our intentionally-made ghee skincare and thoughtful stories with you.

Wishing you warmth & light this winter,

Arati
